The safety of
operatives on site is of paramount importance
and safety procedures at each site include
-
Site
induction/safety talks
-
Task specific
Method Statements and Risk Assessments
-
Toolbox talks
and training in safe use of equipment such
as Cartridge operated tools, Paslode nailers
and safety harnesses
This is backed up
by site inspections by qualified inspectors to
ensure that both our safety policies, and the
main contractor’s site safety policy, are being
adhered to.
We use the services
of Beesafe Safety services to ensure that we
always have access to specialists when we need
them for site visits, toolbox talks etc.
We are strongly
committed to CSCS (Construction Skills
Certification Scheme) and all our site
operatives hold the relevant cards, (which
includes the CITB Health & Safety test). We
work for a number of contractors who operate on
a 100% CSCS card basis, including some who
insist on “appropriate level” cards, which means
skilled level cards for carpentry works.
Our supervisors
have skilled cards, hold site supervisor cards
(which includes H&S supervisor/manager level
test). We have also trained supervisors to
undertake PAT testing.
The office based
managers have Contracts Manager or Surveyor CSCS
cards (H&S test at manager level). They have
also attended/passed IOSH Directing Safely and
SMSTS. We encourage supervisors to take and
complete CITB Site Supervisor Safety courses,
many have already achieved this.
